My friend is renting out a gokart track to have a track day. I ask him if i can bring the fzr and use that, but sadly the track wont allow anything but supermotos... Gahh! Such a bummer. Ive always wanted to run my bike on a gokart track.

Obvious solution: Buy supermoto

Ok. That sucks. We have a local kart track that you can rent for $15 a day here in southern Ohio but they have similar rules. One thing they do though is the local Miata club hosts autocrosses there and they have Z06s and GTRs and other crazy fast cars run so maybe you could run with one of them. Except you're in NJ.
Another thing that they host there is a mini moto series for 100 cc bikes with one spec class just for Honda XR100's.

Tell me about it. I will be getting one. Its just a matter of when. The biggest problem is i keep getting more and more attached to my fzr, and im really having trouble trying to sell or trade it. I just want to keep it, and try and get better and better at riding and working on a sportbike. Plus ill be moving to a state, thats next to another state i can buy dirt bikes legally registered for street use. Which means a WR450 will be mine!

From the people i asked, some said they dont allow motorcycles for auto crosses. But im not 100% certain. The problem is any of these events are well over an hour for me one way. Same thing with actual race tracks, they are closer to 2 hours away, and then cost me nearly half of what i paid for my bike to have a couple sessions on the track. Its bloody extortion and i dont know how anyone can afford it. 15 bucks to rent a track is AWESOME! Take advantage of that!
Id love to do little 100cc races but its hard for me currently to have something i cant also use to ride on the street.

You can pick up these bikes around a grand around here but I understand not being able to afford a spare vehicle. I bought a Miata for autocross and dd but the engine needs to be rebuilt and I'm broke so I am missing all the autocrosses and babying it every day until I can afford to rebuild it. It's very depressing.

Right now ive got my car and my bike (i chose the bike over a beater car), and i want to bring both to tracks and autocrosses haha. And that poses quite the problem if i break one, or both... I long for the day i can afford a truck and trailer to tow them both around. Until then, we do what we can. We live the daily life.

Yep, I want a bike but the wife is worried I will end up an amputee. She'll let me race one on a track but doesn't want me driving one with cars. I also want a truck so I can haul everything.

Get a supermoto, and then tell her its tall enough to see over traffic, and you cant go faster than 85, and youll use it for mostly off road 60/40.. My future driveway and garage is gonna be packed with stupid machines... I hope my future wife will be cool with that...

My future driveway and garage as well. She tells me to think about hugging our kids and then imagine hugging them with no arms. Full disclosure: My wife is pretty confrontational and my dad spent a year in the hospital after a bad car accident and they kept him with the amputees and he said over half of them were bikers. Before that my dad didn't own a car and had only ridden bikes.

Well you could inform her of the dangers of being in a metal cage with explosions happening right in front of her. But that would be a pointless argument. I mean, it is your life, but sometimes you live for others, and i get that. I just hate hearing "my wife wont let me". Id rather hear you say, "Im currently not riding because id like to increase my chances of survival on the road so i can continue to see my kids and wife". If more people said that, they would have nothing but respect from me. Yeah its a bummer they (you) cant ride, but you are being mature about it, and i respect that.
Kinda like how i wont take up smoking (not now anyways). Whem im old and grey, im gonna be a cigar and pipe smoker (maybe), id like to think so anyways. Cause you know, ill be close to dying anyways, so why not? haha, gotta lighten our conversation up.

It's basically the second thing you said. I just say my wife won't let me because it's easier than saying my wife is concerned about my safety and keeps my concerns over getting injured in traffic at the forefront of my decision making process. If I could use a bike as a dd all year round I'd probably consider it more because the idea of a brand new vehicle that gets 80+mpg sounds nice. Another downside is I don't have a garage and I don't even have a driveway.

Thats the thing tho, its like a pet peeve for me when people say that. Just like when young adults say, my mom wont let me hang out with you... BS! Youre parents no longer have full dictatorship over you, just tell me you dont want to hang out (or go hangout).
Im not meaning to sound mean to you. Just say the truth! It impresses me more than the wife excuse. Im sure ill get to that day where i will cut back from riding when i have kids. As much as id like to ride forever, id rather be able to see my kids grow up without an extra danger looming everytime i leave the house. Bike are dangerous i get that. So is life. But, its all about risk management and minimization. Id rather pay more in gas to be able to have a better shot at seeing my family. no questions asked.
No hard feelings. And dont be ashamed of saying why exactly you dont ride.
